Managing Partner of Taram Capital, with a career shaped by telecommunications, business development and mergers and acquisitions across Latin America and the Caribbean, alongside an active connection to academia.
I'm a Managing Partner at Taram Capital. I've spent more than 25 years working at the intersection of strategy, investment, technology and infrastructure, and a significant part of my career has been dedicated to mergers and acquisitions of telecommunications companies across Latin America and the Caribbean. Along the way I've also had the opportunity to hold executive roles across different business and management areas. I've been Vice President of Product, Marketing, Strategy, Management Control and Regulation at companies such as Telefónica, VTR, Liberty Latin America and América Móvil — experiences that gave me a very direct view of how large companies are built, how decisions are made in highly competitive and regulated environments, and how to align growth, operations and long-term vision. That path has allowed me to understand up close how complex markets are built, how capital- and regulation-intensive industries evolve, and how connectivity and infrastructure can transform companies' competitiveness and open new development opportunities. In venture capital, I believe the investor's role goes far beyond capital. An important part of our work is supporting founders and teams at decisive moments, contributing judgment, helping to read the context better and connecting companies with the right people, networks and lessons to accelerate their growth. I'm especially motivated to work with entrepreneurs building ambitious, lasting solutions, with a long-term vision and a focus on real problems for other companies. I also greatly value my academic work. I teach at the Universidad de Chile and at UAI, and teaching has given me a valuable space to organize ideas, stay close to new generations and keep connecting theory, practice and innovation. I believe that relationship between business, knowledge and education is key to building more sophisticated ecosystems with greater capacity for impact. Outside Taram, I greatly enjoy sports and the outdoors. I like cycling, playing tennis, hiking and, above all, climbing mountains. I've been fortunate to summit El Plomo, Aconcagua and Kilimanjaro, as well as high-mountain trekking in the Himalayas. I also love to read, especially history, economics and business, and occasionally physics and philosophy. These are interests that help me keep my curiosity, perspective and an open view of the world.
